Why These Words
We are inspired by the Jedi code of Star Wars lore, as it evokes many of the elements found in mystic traditions and focusing techniques from across the world. Jedi lore provides a modern mythological framework for ancient ideas, particularly Buddhism and Taoism. This practice helps us apply diverse teachings to the present moment in a fun and accessible way.
Here, Now
We begin by centering our attention on being present, with acknowledgement and acceptance. We are not in past nor present, hopes nor fears, but here and now.
Emotion, Peace
We accept and feel our emotions, neither controlling nor being controlled. They are the voice of our habits and our subconscious, however turbulent. In the eye of their storm is peace.
Ignorance, Wisdom
We embrace our limited awareness, knowing how little we can truly know. Accepting our limitations and dissolving expectations opens us to new insights and observations.
Chaos, Harmony
Lack of control is greatly feared, but is the core of human experience. Nature itself is chaos, and yet in the end it flows in beautiful harmony. As do we, when we allow ourselves to let go to that flow.
Life
We accept that we are not fully separate from this world, nor from all the people who comprise it. We breathe as expressions of the Life of the Earth, itself. Embracing this, we choose to live. In so doing, we strengthen the force of all Life.
Force
The Tao, or the Way, is one of many names for the unseen and unknowable force that pulses throughout the universe. As one fluid current, it exists through all things, and we exist through it. We simply call it the force.
